Friday soccer, lunch with the teachers, art, these are all things you can give the kids as classroom awards. No human will do a job well without some sort of reward. Kids are just small people and we as people all work for rewards. Not all rewards are going to work in the classroom, but you should always be thinking of ways to student motivation. I talk about classroom consequences mixed with rewards.

Student motivation and teacher motivation are areas of difficulty in schools. This podcast discusses a motivation method for students that allows teachers to implement trophies as classroom motivation without spending a nickel. yes, it is about people donating old trophies! I have found that many people are eager to donate old trophies of people who have long passed away or who have grown up and no longer care about their old trophies. This is a free motivation method to get kids interested in what you are doing in the classroom. In fact, it gets them competing! With kids, recognition is so important all year long. The best part about these is that they’re recyclable week to week or day to day.
